Newborn Baby: How to Take Care of Your Newly Born Baby?

Description: You are a new parent thrilled to bring a new soul on earth. But handling a newly born ain’t that easy, especially when it’s for your first time. This blog will tell you how to take care of your little one.

Being a new parent gives a blissful feeling. You have a new member in your family, and you are day and night involved in making sure that this little one gets all the happiness in the world. You are super excited to live with your baby, but on the other hand, you are scared too. After all, it is a tiny little being, fragile and unable to communicate their thoughts.

So, here we are ready to save you from the worry and provide you with the best tips for newborn baby care. These will help you up to your newborn baby care game. So, let’s start!

The Umbilical Cord

This is the first step when you go about how to care for a newborn baby. It’s the cord that transports nutrients from the mother to the child during pregnancy. During the delivery, the cord is cut, and that leaves the baby with a stump on the belly button. And this stump can easily come off on its own within 2-3 weeks.

The task here is to make sure that there isn’t any infection in that area. It requires extra precaution when grooming your baby. The area must be kept clean and dry.

Some doctors even recommend using rubbing alcohol to clean the base, but some advocate that it could be harsh on their fragile skin. Refrain from bathing your little one in a tub or sink while the umbilical cord is intact. Give them only sponge baths.

If you give your baby a full bath, fan the belly button area to let the cord to dry immediately. Use some good newborn baby care products and don’t try to run it dry because it can lead to irritation.

Taking Care of the Fragile Skin

Your baby’s skin is soft and extremely delicate. Therefore, it requires the right care and protection. So, make sure you apply baby-friendly lotion regularly to keep the skin well-hydrated. It prevents dry patches and cracking that can make the area vulnerable to bacteria or fungus.

While you are responsible for newborn baby care 1st month, remember that it’s way too common for kids to have rashes. They’re caused by mom’s hormones still present in the baby’s body, and there is nothing you can do about it, except for purchasing the best diaper rash cream to save your little one from unwanted rashes.

Along with that, don’t forget to give the perfect newborn baby hair care.

Giving The Baby a Bath

Nursing care plan for newborn baby is not as easy. There are some basic rules. Don’t give your baby a bath for the first week of life. Most of the babies are with Vernix Caseosa, a creamy white substance that is made of oils from the baby’s sweat glands. This layer protects the baby in the womb. After birth, this natural coating continues to ward off bacteria. Within 5-10 days, the vernix will go off on its own, and that would be the time to execute your nursing care plans for newborn baby.

Make sure you pay special attention to the genital areas because they are the most parts vulnerable to infections and skin allergies.

What’s After Bath?

Grooming is an essential part of newborn baby care. Always pat your baby dry after bathing them before you put any piece of clothing on them. When the skin is soft and smooth, you must apply the necessary skincare products.

The Right Kind of Clothes

The perfect kind of clothing for a newborn is a onesie. They are specially designed to give your baby the right covering and protection. And the best part is that they allow easy diaper changes. They are perfect for newborn baby care. You can also look for a wrap-style shirt as it reduces the need to pull a shirt over the baby causing him discomfort.

If your baby is a winter born, make sure you put layers of clothes on your baby to keep him warm. Keep your little one bundled in a blanket when indoors. A soft-skull cap, mittens, socks are mandatory to be on your baby’s body when going outside. Everything should be covered except for the face.

Good Care is All They Need

Your life changes drastically when a newborn enters your life. Sleepless nights are non-negotiable when it comes to newborn baby care. But when you do things that comfort your baby, you can save a lot of time for yourself. So, keep these tips in mind as you do your newborn babycare regime.
